Just your ordinary gay bipolar autistic autodidactic secular-humanist geek.
Sometime author, programmer, designer, editor, musician, and illustrator. Always a photographer.
Became a widower in my early 30s. Spent years afterwards without leaving my home or meeting anyone outside my family. Slowly trying to reengage with the world after being paralyzed by depression and mental illness.
Been online before the web existed, and blogging before that word existed. Wrote Greymatter, a pioneering blogging program that inspired WordPress, currently the world’s most popular blog/content-management software.
Currently keeping a casual outlet/scrapbook blog at Noah’s Lark.
Served as a creative consultant to Google for their Picasa photo software. Somehow managed to have my teddy bear, Thomas, become an easter egg in it.
Was raped by a teacher at the age of ten. Created the first online forum for male survivors of sexual abuse 15 years ago and became an occasional media advocate for the issue.
Loves books, fuzzy sweaters, film noir, Bach, videogames, Dr Pepper, winter, antique maps, monkeying around, meaningful silences, and owls.
And Ryan.
